Go Sober For October - The Challenge
For the last couple of years we have been spending a month of the year doing or not doing something in aid of charity and this year is no exception. Last year, I took part in Sober For October, to help raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support and now I'm hear to tell you that its back and is in need of new people to take up the challenge. I found it so rewarding last year that since October I have hardly touched an alcoholic drink at all!
By signing up to be a 'Sober Hero' you would be raising awareness of Macmillan as a charity not just to encourage other people to donate but also to help Macmillan reach and help more people. The big C word is all around us and many of us will know someone who has suffered from this horrible illness, maybe someone who could have done with the help and support of Macmillan. By doing Sober For October, I'm not asking you to run a marathon or do something extreme, I am just asking you to give up alcohol for one whole month and get your friends and family to donate money whilst you are doing it - its that simple!
All you have to do is head over to www.gosober.org.uk and sign up for the challenge. You will get regular emails helping you to stay sober and there are great tips on the website to help you along the way. You can log in each day to check your progress and there is even a great section for you and your friends to compete against each other to see who can raise the most donations. You will be surprised with how great you feel but don't worry you can buy a 'golden ticket' to let you have a drink for those extra special occasions.
Think of all the money you will be saving! (Last year I donated the money I'd saved to Macmillan to help them help somebody with Cancer who needed support)
