2017 - Reflecting On A Year Gone By

Hello everyone!

So its coming to that time of year again when we look at the past year, our achievements and our highs and lows. I thought what better way to kick this off than my looking at My Instagram best 9. As a side note, I've also linked it above so that you can check out my other photos if you like and maybe click that follow button whilst your there too!

Before I get into this post, I just wanted to point out that I have a theme to my Instagram. Its not all in certain colours or has to look a certain way, instead , the theme of my Instagram in My Life. I feel I can post anything I want to on there and sometimes even dare to post something out of my comfort zone, so here is my best 9 explained...

Starting at the top, this photo was by far the most difficult one to post and yet was the one with the most likes and comments. I have struggled with my body image for a long time and decided that I wanted to do something about it. This photo was the starting point for me - even though I covered my tummy area (the part I least liked), I found a new confidence in being able to wear a bikini on the beach. It may look like your average day at the beach, however, this was taken during an airshow and so there were loads of people around watching this photo being taken.

Next up is Morph. I have loved Morph for years - ever since me and my grandad used to watch it together. Sadly he passed away a few years ago, so when I saw that the local mall was doing a display all about him, I was there straight away.

Work hard, play hard, be kind - my new motto. I actually received this in a Birchbox, but it arrived at such a time when I needed some inspiration, that this is now what I live by. If you want something, you need to work hard to reap the benefits but should still stay true to yourself along the way.

The dusk shot - This was the first time I had really taken nighttime photos on my new camera and I was so surprised at how well some of them came out. I'm now obsessed with taking pictures and am constantly looking for picture perfect places to visit.

It wouldn't be Instagram without a selfie! For me, not only is it a selfie, but it signifies how I have finally found my own sense of style. I am never going to be one of those people who has to wear the latest on trend pieces, but I am now confident in my clothes and how I look.

Bad choice of footwear - For me though, its not the fact that I wore white trainers on a muddy bike ride. Instead its about how proud I am of myself for the fact I actually got on a bike for the first time in over 14 years. I'll admit that it wasn't easy - I fell off a couple of times and I had a huge panic attack - however I DID IT!

Poppies in Plymouth - When the Tower of London poppies were first created, I really wanted to visit them but just knew I wouldn't be able to. When they became available to buy, I was probably one of the first and now have it tucked safely away, until I can find somewhere to display it. Our weekend away in Plymouth was made even more special by getting to see the poppy wave display. It was such a poignant and moving memorial and is one that I will remember in years to come.

Trixie - there's not a lot to say about my munchkin, apart from I love her just as much now as I did when I first brought her home. She is growing up so quickly now and has a will of her own - sometimes she listens to me, other times she doesn't. A cuddle with Trixie has sometimes made a horrible day so much better and I hope to make her days better too!

Last but not least, a face mask. This is for all of the pamper evenings I've had. Over the last year, I've learnt that I need to take care of myself more so that I can achieve more. Previously, I had been trying to do everything and then feeling burnt out by the end of it. Now I know that if I take just an hour a week for myself, I can achieve anything.

But did I achieve my goals?

A English holiday - I achieved this a couple of times with long weekends away, staying in Lincoln, Plymouth and Tetbury.

Loosing weight - I stated that I wanted to try and drop two dress sizes and I'm happy to say I have done it. I feel so much more happier in myself now and can now wear things that I didn't feel suitable for me beforehand.

Own my own home by Christmas - This is still a goal I want to achieve but it wasn't as easy as I thought. Rather than buying a property this year, I've instead given my finances an overhaul and feel in a much better position to try again in 2018.

Decluttering - This is an ongoing goal for me but one that I think I achieved pretty well throughout 2017.

Learn to drive - this is one goal that I haven't even begun to achieve but I will do so in the near future.

Blog & YouTube more - I feel like I have definitely achieved this - I'm now in a routine that is achievable for me and I'm constantly coming up with new ideas.

I'm currently writing my 2018 goals which I will post here very soon. I'll also be back tomorrow with a new YouTube video so make sure you're following all of my social media, which is linked down below, so that you don't miss out on any content.

Until next time
