Minimalism & Me - The Beginning

Hello everyone!

Welcome back to another blog post and to a new series that I wanted to run on here that will hopefully help both me and some of you, to become more minimalist. I have decluttered on many previous occasions but then always find the clutter just slowly creeps back in. I have decided that I want to put a stop to it and I hope that by doing this, I'll be able to spend less too!

I actually started decluttering my stuff a few weeks ago and was so surprised by how much I was able to get rid of. I thought I would therefore break it down into sections and show you the types of things I'm getting rid of, what I'm doing with it and tips and tricks I've learnt along the way.

Today I thought I would show you my purge pile from my beauty/skincare drawers. I do this quite regularly so there isn't too much, however I still managed to get rid of a few items.

Okay so although this Lipcote still has plenty inside, it is really old now and has gone a funny colour. I thought it was about time I got rid of this one and bought a new one when I next need it.

I bought this scar serum to cover up some of the scars I have on my legs however I can't say I really noticed a difference. I'm not sure why I kept it for so long but it is definitely time to throw it away now, besides which the scars I wanted the serum to cover have since faded.

Last but not least is this empty pot of Clinique moisture surge. Its a great size pot which is why I kept it, but as I haven't found something else to put into it in the last six months, its definitely time for it to go.

So that is the first section of decluttering done and I feel so much better because I also sorted out the drawers so that I can find everything at a glance. Are you planning on doing any decluttering soon? I'd love to see your before & after photos!

I'll be back with another post in this series soon.

Until then

  1. I am such a hoarder, especially when it comes to makeup! I really need to have a clear out too. So many products that are either finished or I haven’t used but still kept because “you never know”. I might try and make 2018 my more minimal year. X

    1. I highly recommend it because I feel so much better for it! It doesn't have to be a big task either, you can just do small sections every now and again and yet still notice the difference.

  2. I recently had a de-clutter and feel so much better for it! I think I threw out about 40 makeup products in total because they were out of date or I simply didn't use them but mine is more likely to make room for more products, haha!

    1. I agree its a great feeling! I'll admit I was probably restock mine a bit but hopefully not to such an extreme. Out of date items is something I struggle with too because sometimes they were expensive or still have a lot of product left in them.

  3. I'm due a good clear out too but I'm the best at finding a reason to keep everything. Shame the scar stuff didn't do much and I love that moisturiser, one of my favourites x

    1. Yes it was a shame but at least I feel I can embrace them now. I used to be like that too until I got to a point where enough was enough!

  4. Loved this post, I'd be rubbish at attempting minimalism, I get so attached to everything-even makeup! X

    1. Thanks, I used to be the same but since being more ruthless, I certainly feel a lot better with less things.

  6. I declutter regulary but free space gets filled up pretty fast. I guess sometimes problem lies in about forgotting to use something.

    1. I can be the same sometimes. I think when you have quite a lot of stuff, you sometimes forget what you actually have!
