My Current Haircare Routine

Hello everyone and welcome back.

Today I thought I would talk you through my current haircare routine because I finally feel like I have got to a good place with it.

Firstly, I haven't had my haircut in ages - probably over a year. Whilst this might sound strange to some people, for me I feel like it has aided my hair is looking and feeling thicker and healthier.

I also try not to wash my hair too much and tend to wash it every 2 - 3 days depending on what I've been doing. For example, if I've been sat at a desk working, I know I will need to wash it more often because I have a habit of playing with my hair whilst I work. I try to keep as much of the natural oils on my hair as possible and obviously washing my hair gets rid of this, so I try to limit it as much as I can. In between washes, I like to use my Batiste dry shampoo if my hair needs it. My favourite is the pink floral one.

Another thing I've been trying not to do is try my hair with heat. I have a steam dryer which I use when I really need to, however, I much prefer to let my hair naturally dry. If I do have to use a dryer, I always put a protectant on my hair first and my favourite is the L'oreal sleek heat protectant because not only does it fight against heat damage, it also creates a smooth and sleek look.

In terms of shampoo and condition, I try to keep it natural. I don't have a particular favourite at the moment so if you have any recommendations, please let me know in the comments. Of course, every time I wash my hair I use shampoo, but I tend to use conditioner every other time. Added to this, once a week, this will be in the version of a hair mask rather than just normal conditioner.

If you have been following my social media over the last month or so, you may have noticed that I've been curling my hair more. I use the Mark Hill styling barrel to get the curls, adding the Bamboo curl volumnizer spray and the John Freida Blonde Hair Spray. By using these products, I've been able to get second day and sometimes even third day curls which is great. I try not to curl my hair two days in a row because I don't want to damage my hair too much. I also make sure to have used my heat protectant which I mentioned above.

I have used a tangle teezer as my everyday brush for quite a few years now and there is no way I could go back to a regular brush. It comes in really handy after I've been swimming too because my hair can become extremely knotty yet the tangle teezer just glides through it.

The last product I wanted to mention was the Pantene split end oil. I tend to use this once a week, sometimes more if I feel my hair needs it. It just makes my hair look healthier and smoother without it being to heavy and greasy.

So that is my current haircare routine. As you can tell, I try not to style it too much and when I do, I try to keep it as natural as possible. I'm very conscious of the fact that once your hair looks damaged, it takes a lot of time to get it back to healthy.

As I mentioned above, if you have any products you think I should try, let me know in the comments below.

Until next time

  3. I've heard great things about Tangle Teezers! I'd love to try one. I love my hair curly but it's so fine that the curls drop out within an hour or two, you're so lucky that yours last a couple of days! My mom has a Mark Hill curling wand which I have used a few times and it's so good, especially for the price!

    1. To be honest, my hair was always the same but I think the combination of the hair spray & the textured mist gave it more volume & it held better.

  4. I'm the same. I don't like to wash my hair everyday. I usually wash it depending on whether I went to the gym or not. I found this post really interesting! Thanks for sharing all the products you use. That split end oil sounds like something I'd definitely be interested in trying!
